GCSE Exam success

Well done to all of our girls on their GCSE results.

98.17% of our pupils met the national gold standard of 5 GCSEs at A*-C including English and Maths. Even more impressive was the fact that 63.5 % of all exams taken were passed at A or A*. Overall we saw a sizeable increase in the number of pupils gaining the top grades. 73.17 % of pupils gained at least 5 As and A*s with 56 pupils passing 10 or more GCSEs at A or A*. 31 year 11 pupils also took AS IT scoring an 81% pass rate at grades A or B.

Together with our A and AS level results this has been an excellent year which we can all take pride in and share in the girls' success.

Welcome to Bournemouth School for Girls!

I am proud to be Headteacher of this thriving grammar school, serving Bournemouth and the surrounding area. With over 1100 girls, including 300 students in the sixth form, BSG is a dynamic and exciting community to work and learn in.

We are committed to providing the very best possible education for our pupils, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, in drama and music or in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

We are certainly a highly successful school and one of the top performing state schools in the country. In the 2014 Sunday Times Parentpower survey we were ranked 88th nationally and were the top state school in Dorset and Hampshire. Our last OFSTED inspection recognised that BSG is a special place to be by rating us ‘OUTSTANDING' in all aspects of our school life.

I hope that you will get something of the flavour of our school as you view our website. If you would like to find out more about BSG please do get in contact with me. I would be delighted to welcome you to our school.

We look forward to seeing you!
