South West Academic Trust
On 1 st September 2009 our school joined the South West Academic Trust. Other members of the Trust are Exeter University , Colyton Grammar School , Torquay Boys' and Torquay Girls' Grammar Schools and Poole Grammar School . This decision was reached following two periods of formal consultation. Joining the Trust will provide exciting new opportunities for pupils and staff and enable us to develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning for our students.
Teachers meet regularly to share best practice which they can bring back to their own school.
Other events include the meeting of heads of department and 'Learning Walks'. These involve staff and students visiting lessons and becoming immersed in the life of another school for a day to bring new ideas about teaching and learning that we can implement at BSG.
As part of our work with the trust we are committed to working with other non-selective schools to share best practice. As well as our partnership activities with other schools as part of our specialist status we are also , together with Bournemouth School, the University of Winchester and the Church of England, acting as co-sponsors of the Bishop of Winchester School's plans to become an academy.
This is a new and exciting avenue for BSG and we are delighted to be joining the South West Academic Trust.
